What is an FMS ?

A flight management system or FMS is a computerized avionics component found on most commercial and business aircraft to assist pilots in navigation, flight planning, and aircraft control functions.
An FMC is the the computer itself where you enter the information about your route for example. (see screenshot below) The FMC which we will describe is the one from PMDG of a Boeing 737-600. This is how it looks:


To make it easy for you, we made a Powerpoint presentation where we describe all the steps you have to do for configuring your FMC. Once again, the configuration is for a flight from EBBR to EHAM.


On the picture above, you can see some buttons. On the left and right side of the screen you have 6 buttons. The 6 buttons on the left are L1, L2, L3, ... and the 6 on the right are R1, R2, R3, ...
